چکیده

While studyihg the localization of Streptococcus viridans at sites of local antigen-antibody reactions in rabbits sensitized to horse serum, Weisberger (Proc. Soc. Exper. Biol. & Med., 1932, 29, 445) observed that there was a difference in the rate of disappearance of these organisms from the blood stream of normal and of sensitive animals. In the case of the sensitive animals, the bacteremia was definitely and consistently prolonged beyond that which occurred in the normal animals. In the present investigation the effect of the hypersensitive state on experimental Streptococcus hemolyticus bacteremia was studied in rabbits. The organism used was a hemolytic streptococcus which had been isolated from a case of scarlet fever (strain 273). Rabbits were sensitized by repeated injections of normal horse serum. The volume of the bacterial suspension injected was kept constant at 1 cc. A measured quantity of organisms, as determined by the pour-plate method, was inoculated into the ear vein. Blood cultures were taken from the internal jugular vein 15 and 30 minutes, and 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 24 hours after the injection, and then every 24 hours until the blood became sterile. Both broth and blood-agar plate cultures were made and the number of colonies was counted for each period from the plate. Three groups of experimental animals were used. Group I included 8 animals, 4 of which were normal controls and received injections of organisms only, and 4 were sensitized animals which were shocked with normal horse serum at the time of bacterial injection. A normal and a sensitized animal were

Serum and Urine Level of IP-10 in Patients with HCV infection Based on Clinical and Virological Markers

Abstract Background and Aims: IP-10 molecule is a new biomarker to predict response to treatment in chronic HCV infection. Also urine IP-10 has been suggested as a biomarker in other infections. But already, it has low data in urine as well as serum level of IP-10 for HCV infection. The aim of this study was to assess urine and serum level of IP-10 in patients with type 1 and 3a HCV infect...

Immune Deviation in Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis: Correlation with Iron Deficiency Anemia

Background: Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA) has been controversially linked to IL-4 production in previous studies. A predominant Th1 response leads to resistance against recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC), whereas a Th2 response exacerbates the disease. Objective: To investigate the possible effect of iron deficiency on the host’s susceptibility to RVVC as a result of the Th1/Th2 cytokine ...

O-25: Relation between Follicular Fluid Levels of 25 Hydroxy Vitamin D and Clinical Pregnancy following Embryo Transfer

Background: Animal and in vitro studies have shown that 25-OH vitamin D plays a significant role in different parts of body. Few data exist about the role of 25- OH vitamin D in reproduction. Insufficient levels during pregnancy are potentially associated with increased risk of preeclampsia, insulin resistance and gestational diabetes mellitus. Recently, few studies have assessed the prognostic...

Serum concentrations of haptoglobin and serum amyloid A in water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) with abomasal ulcer

To evaluate the serum concentrations of haptoglobin (Hp) and serum amyloid A (SAA) in water buffaloes with abomasal ulcers, the abomasums of 100 randomly selected water buffaloes were examined after slaughter. Type I abomasal ulcers were found in 56 out of 100 buffaloes. Serum concentrations of Hp and SAA were measured. There was no significant difference between affected and non-affected buffa...

Background and Objectives:  Helicobacter pylori cause a chronic gastric infection, and may cause extra gastrointestinal disease. The association between H. pylori infection and serum lipid profiles is still controversial. The aim of this study was to investigate any possible relationship between H. pylori infection and lipid levels. Materials and Methods: The subj...

سطح سرمی ویتامین‌های A، D و روی در کودکان شش ماه تا پنج سال مبتلا و غیرمبتلا به عفونت تنفسی

Background: Severity of respiratory infection in children is depended on various fac-tors such as causative organism and the host immunologic response to the organism. Vitamins and micronutrients play an important role in this response with supporting the immune system and therefore, the response to infections. Nutritional deprivations in children, especially vitamins and micronutrients such as...
